Facilities at Skipton Castle Woods

Parking at Skipton Castle

There is no dedicated Woodland Trust car park for Skipton Castle Woods however you are welcome to pay and display at Skipton Castle's cark park.

Skipton Castle Car Park – The Bailey, Skipton, BD23 1UA  operated by Skipton Castle.

This car park is a short walking distance from the town centre and the canal tow path which leads to the main entrance of the woods at The Old Sawmill (approximately 1/4 a mile away). We recommend this route for first time visitors however it's also useful to know that parking at the castle provides direct access to the upper path in the woodland through The Bailey Entrance. You will find this entrance gate by leaving the car park on foot and turning left. 

There are 193 car spaces, 3 coach spaces and staff on site.

Public Car Parks - Pay and Display

As an alternative to Skipton Castle Car Park there are two shopper car parks close by which means you can also enjoy spending time in the town centre.

High Street Car Park – accessed from High Street or Rectory Lane, Skipton, BD23 1ED operated by Craven Council 

This car park is a short walking distance to the canal tow path which leads to the main entrance of the woods at The Old Sawmill (approximately 1/4 a mile away).

Coach and mini bus spaces are available in the High Street Car Park on a first come first served basis. 

Coach Street Car Park - accessed from Broughton Road, Gargrave Road or Water Street Skipton, BD23 1LE operated by Craven Council 

This car park is located next to the canal tow path which leads to the main entrance of the woods at The Old Sawmill (approximately 1/4 mile away). To join the tow path leave the car park via Coach Street, stepping off the bridge onto the canal network. 

Food and drink

The area around Mill Bridge which gives access to The Old Saw Mill entrance via the canal tow path, has plenty of choices for refreshments or on warm sunny days, why not take a picnic into the woods?

Toilets

The nearest public toilets to Skipton Castle Woods are available at the High Street Car Park behind the Town Hall, including a RADAR key accessible toilet. A small charge applies.

Visitors to Skipton Castle have access to public toilets on site including disabled facilities (admission charge applies).
